# Spring

Below is_ Spring, _her original poem written for the welcome arrival of spring and the inaugural release of our Spring Poetry Coffees._

### Spring

I said I was the vessel.

I said it to the sun.

I mentioned it to the snow

which made an appearance

last night, heavy and sorrowful

but fleeting. It stayed

long enough for me to dream

about it, long enough

for my footprint to leave

a legacy in frost as I walked

toward a future garden.

**About the Poet**  
Tina Chang, Brooklyn Poet Laureate, is the author of _Half-Lit Houses,_ _Of Gods & Strangers (FWB),_ and _Hybrida_ (W.W. Norton, 2019). She is also co-editor of the Norton anthology _Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia, and Beyond_. She is the Director of Creative Writing at Binghamton University.

**About the Coffee**
