A Closer Look
Three Africas is our blend for the single origin lovers. We combine two Ethiopian coffees — one washed, one natural processed — with a coffee from Central Africa to make a dynamic yet well-rounded blend that we roast with a light touch. It has it all: fruitiness, gentle citric brightness, and depth.
Celebrating International Year of the Woman Farmer
In honor of the UN’s designation of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we’re spotlighting coffees crafted by trailblazing women around the world.
Driven by Women
Globally, women contribute up to 70% of coffee production’s labor. We see this daily within the women’s cooperatives, women-owned farms, and women-run exporting businesses woven into our coffee sourcing.
Three Africas
This blend features a Central African component from Rwanda that brings both body and sweetness to the cup. It combines coffees from four organic-certified washing stations within a larger network of stations where women hold critical leadership roles.
Bringing This Blend to Life
Women hold positions across the sourcing network, from station manager and accountant to head of quality control and training. Throughout the year, women across the network also serve in key decision-making roles on farmer organization leadership committees and in Village Savings and Loan Associations.
Three Africas
Created as a complement to Bella Donovan and Giant Steps, Three Africas delivers fruit, nuance, radiance, and deep sweetness that captivates every drinker — and cold-brewed, its depth and luminosity span the full coffee spectrum.
Roast Story
Three Africas is roasted dark enough for a rounded, full-bodied cup yet light enough to let hints of berries and citrus shine.
Blend Inspiration
“It’s like a three-note chord … a triad that rings out. The trick is to have all three notes sound simultaneously at equal volume. And when you do that, you get a major triad, and it’s really quite beautiful.” – James Freeman

Signature Blends Brew Guide
- 1. Heat Your Water
Heat at least 350 g water to 195–205ºF. Darker roasts brew best at the cooler side of the spectrum, while lighter roasts take hotter water.
- 2. Grind Your Coffee
Grind your coffee to a medium grind.
- 3. Bloom the Grounds
Add your coffee to the filter sitting inside your dripper. Shake gently until level.
Start your timer and scale at zero. Beginning in the center of the grounds, pour a spiral pattern: three laps out then three laps in, until you reach 50 g on the scale.
You’re aiming to finish this pour in 10 seconds.
- 4. Begin Your First Pour
At 40 seconds, beginning in the center of the grounds, pour a spiral pattern: five laps out then five laps in, until you reach 150 g on the scale.
You’re aiming to finish this pour in 10 seconds.
- 5. Begin Your Second Pour
At 1:10 minutes, beginning in the center of the grounds, pour a spiral pattern: five laps out then five laps in, until you reach 250 g on the scale.
You’re aiming to finish this pour in 10 seconds.
- 6. Begin Your Final Pour
At 1:40 minutes, beginning in the center of the grounds, pour a spiral pattern: five laps out then five laps in, until you reach 350 g on the scale.
You’re aiming to finish this pour in 10 seconds.
- 7. Wait for the Finished Cup
Allow all the water to pass through the dripper into the carafe. Total brew time — depending on coffee, roast level, and grind — can take anywhere from 2:30 to 3:30 minutes.
- 8. Enjoy
Pour the coffee into your favorite mug and enjoy. If you brewed into a mug, give it a stir before drinking.

Barista Story
The Dial In
Crafting a perfect pour over is an art rooted in omotenashi, the Japanese concept of selfless and heartfelt hospitality. Each time a pour over is ordered, our baristas — from LA to Tokyo — begin their ritual, placing a fresh filter in the Blue Bottle Dripper, freshly grinding your coffee of choice, and pouring the same pattern at the same rate they’ve practiced hundreds of times. It’s a daily dance of precision and intuition, where every cup reflects devotion — to the craft and you.
